HISTORY




The pre-Hispanic name of Lerma, Mexico is Cacamilhuacan language, Nahuatl word cacalotl include -raven milli- sowing hua -posesional and can where and all together means "Where there ravens the sown"

In the days of the spiritual conquest Cacamilhuacan this site was imposed the name of Santa Clara; subsequently Reolín Varejón Martin was a Spanish acaudelado choose to found a city in Santa Clara where Lerma later renamed in honor of the Burgos town of the same name.
